Explore Study and Work Placement Opportunities Across Europe with the European Language Centre

At the Centro Europeu de Línguas (CEL), we have been coordinating international mobility projects, particularly under the Erasmus+ programme, since 1996. 

Through our programmes, hundreds of young Portuguese professionals have had the opportunity to undertake work placements and gain professional experience in various European countries.

Our Mobility Projects

Over the years, we have promoted around 19 mobility projects under the Leonardo da Vinci and Erasmus+ programmes, including:

  • Atlântico I to VI
  • Euromobility 25 I to III
  • LxMove I to III
  • Mobility + Languages = Passport to the Future I to III
  • C.I.L. – Culture and Innovation in Languages I and II
  • Language Plus, aimed at training language teachers.

What is a Mobility Project?

Key Action 1 – Individual Mobility for Learning Purposes offers participants unique opportunities to:

  • Improve professional skills
  • Increase employability
  • Gain cultural awareness and broaden horizons
 

Through these projects, we offer professional work placements for recent graduates, enhancing their acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and qualifications, to support personal development, employability, and participation in the European job market.

Who can participate?

You can only participate if you are a student at an organisation with an approved Erasmus+ project.

How to Apply?

If you are a student at the European Language Centre and would like to take part in an Erasmus+ project, follow these steps:

  • Send your Europass CV with the reference “Application for the Erasmus+ Programme” to our Mobility Office.

Selection Criteria

Participants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Curriculum Assessment (40%): We will consider factors such as your academic qualifications, foreign language skills, professional training and experience, and the coherence of your academic and professional path.

  • Personal Interview (60%): We will assess qualities such as motivation, responsibility, autonomy, adaptability, and other relevant personal traits.

The final score will be expressed on a scale of 0 to 20. Only candidates with a final score of 10 or above will be selected.

Certification

Selected participants in the Erasmus+ projects will receive diplomas and certificates validated by the host organisations, recognised as part of European Certification and lifelong learning. Additionally, all participants will receive the Europass Mobility document, which records the skills acquired during the project.

Host Organisation in Lisbon – Erasmus+

The Centro Europeu de Línguas (CEL) is a host organisation for participants of the Erasmus+ Programme in Lisbon, Portugal. Since 1996, when we began with the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, we have welcomed hundreds of young people from various nationalities and professional backgrounds. We offer a structured mobility experience, taking care of all the details for both groups and individual participants, tailored to the specific needs of each partner and participant.

Personalised Support

Our tutors are available 24/7 to assist with adaptation to the city and to resolve any issues. 

We organise weekly support sessions, both formal and informal, to ensure that each participant feels supported and is making progress during their placement.

Linguistic and Cultural Preparation

As a certified language school, we provide Portuguese language and culture courses at various levels, adapted to each participant’s professional area and communication needs. 

This linguistic support is crucial for easing communication and integration into the new environment.

Professional Placements

We tailor internships to the curricular profile and motivational letter of each participant, offering placements in various professional fields. Although these internships are generally unpaid, they provide a unique opportunity for professional development.

Placement Duration

The duration of the placements varies depending on the project, but we generally recommend a minimum of 3 months to ensure sufficient linguistic and professional development.

Quality Control

We maintain strict quality control through regular satisfaction surveys completed by participants, aiming for continuous improvement in our services.

Recognised Certification

Participants will receive validated certificates from CEL and hosting companies under the European Certification – Europass Mobility, which are crucial for their CVs and career advancement.

We offer various accommodation options, adapted to the needs of each participant through our network of partners. 

We also assist with local transportation, ensuring the most economical and efficient options are available to each individual.

Arrival in Lisbon – Transfer

Upon arrival in Lisbon, you will be greeted by a CEL tutor, who will accompany you to your accommodation. 

You will also be provided with maps and general information about the city and public transport system.
